A founding member, writer, vocalist, guitarist of the folk-rooted alternative rock band, The Horse Flies, Jeff Claus has: toured extensively in the U.S., Canada, and Europe; recorded 7 albums, with releases on MCA and Rounder Records; and scored three feature films (Where the Rivers Flow North, A Stranger in the Kingdom, and The Year that Trembled). The Horse Flies have been featured on MTV, Prairie Home Companion, All Things Considered, World Cafe, and Mountain Stage and have been written about in Rolling Stone, Musician Magazine, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, The Guardian, and other major publications. One of Claus' songs, "Sally Ann," is the lead cut on Natalie Merchant's new CD, The House Carpenter's Daughter. Another, "I Live Where It's Gray," was used on MTV by Rock the Vote, and some of his film music has been used by Oliver Stone in the film, Any Given Sunday. Claus was also featured in an article in Acoustic Guitar, October, 2000.


Currently Jeff performs with Boy with a Fish, The Horse Flies, and various fiddle bands.
