Southern Old-Time Music with ...

Bruce Molsky (fiddle) One of the most influential old-time fiddlers around, Bruce Molsky is also a remarkable guitarist, banjoist and singer. His high-spirited music melds the archaic mountain sounds of Appalachia, the power of blues and the rhythmic intricacies of traditional African music. The Washington Post says Bruce's music "set[s] into motion melodies that radiate enormous spirit and momentum," and Sing Out! says his fiddling "combines precision and abandon so perfectly that it raises the hairs on the back of your neck."

Judy Hyman (fiddle) The Chicago tribune called her playing with the Horse Flies 'haunting' and the band 'glove-tight'. Judy joined pop star Natalie Merchant's band on the Summer 2000 Tour.

Rose Sinclair (banjo, accordion) was a founding member of the Heartbeats Rhythm Quartet [Green Linnet Records], a neo-traditional old time band that toured for 10 years throughout the U.S., Canada, and Germany; won first place in the old time band contest at the Galax, Virginia fiddler's convention; and appeared on festival stages at WOMAD, Telluride, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Philadelphia Folk Festival and others. The band was featured on A Prairie Home Companion, Mountain Stage, E-Town and Voice of America and toured with the 10,000 Maniacs and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Rose has taught at folk music camps on both coasts and appears on various recordings, including those of Jones and Leva, and Robin and Linda Williams. At home in western Massachusetts, Rose plays steel guitar with Girl Howdy, accordion with Planet Zydeco, and stand-up bass with The Westernaires.
