Violins

3 acoustic violins

Each violin is equipped with a Baggs bridge and Mills microphone. This setup produces a strong, clean, warm, reliable acoustic sound.

Why three violins? One stays in standard violin tuning. The other two are for open tunings.

3 five-string electric violins

One stays in standard tuning. A second is for alternate tunings. Both these violins produce the full range of both a violin and a viola.

The third is strung with "octave" strings for cello range.

A range of sound can be produced on these instruments from very natural to highly effected.

Amplification for live performance

Both the electric and acoustic violins run through Pendulum preamps which produce a strong, clean sound suitable for both large and small venues.

For modest indoor venues she can use an ATM-35 microphone on the acoustic violins.

Processing Gear

Judy uses Lexicon processing for her basic sound. She also has a fun selection of pedals including phasers, octave, delay, and distortion.
